President Donald Trump said Wednesday he plans to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un later this year, despite Pyongyang’s apparent denial hours earlier that the two leaders are in contact.

Speaking to White House pool reporters, Trump responded to a question about his expectations for a summit with Kim by answering, “Yeah, I will be.”

Trump did not give details supporting his assertion of an upcoming summit, including when and where it could take place. He also declined to confirm whether he was continuing to exchange letters with Kim, but emphasized his positive relationship with the North Korean leader.
