Special bulletin on heat wave: Call for alert in 14 districts

Kathmandu, June 5

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issued a special bulletin on the heat wave on June 4, urged to remain alert in some districts in the southern part of the country.

The Department’s Meteorological Forecast Division issued a special bulletin related to the heat wave, calling for adopting alert measures in 14 districts and advising to stay updated in another seven districts. Meteorologist Saroj Pudasaini informed that some plain areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces are likely to experience a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or higher in the next three days.

Today, the temperature measured 41 degrees in Bhairahawa and 40 degrees in Nepalgunj, he informed. The Division also indicated a moderate heat wave in some parts of Madhesh and Lumbini provinces during the next three days.

The Department asked the general public to take precautions to stay safe from the heat. The Division requested everyone to pay special attention as the heat is increasing significantly
