Elephants in the Fog wins Jury Prize at Cannes

Kathmandu, May 24

The Nepali film Elephants in the Fog, directed by Abinash Bikram Shah, has won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section of the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival.

This is a significant achievement for a Nepali film on such a prestigious global stage. Shah’s short film Lori, had previously also won a Special Mention award at Cannes.

Other winners

The main Un Certain Regard Prize went to Austrian director Sandra Wollner’s film Everytime. The Special Jury Prize was awarded to French director Louis Clici’s film Iron Boy.

The Best Actor award went to Bradley Fiomona Dembeacet for his role in Congo Boy, directed by Rafiki Fariala.

The Best Actress award was jointly presented to Marina de Tavira, Daniela Marín Navarro, and Mariángel Villegas for Siempre Soy Tu Animal Materno, directed by Valentina Maurel.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival concludes today, with the winners of the main competition also set to be announced.
