Libya’s Planning Institute reported last Friday (18 September) that it had held a preparatory meeting in Tunis with Germany’s GIZ Libya to discuss launching Libya’s first Green Business Incubator.
The initiative aims to support entrepreneurial ideas and projects within the green and circular economy sectors, while fostering innovation and investment in sustainable ventures.
Launching a venture capital fund
The meeting also addressed mechanisms for launching a venture capital fund dedicated to supporting promising projects and ideas in this field. This fund is intended to provide the necessary financing and support for entrepreneurs, helping to transform innovative concepts into projects capable of growth and expansion.
A more sustainable and resource-efficient economy
Furthermore, participants discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination with various stakeholders to ensure the integration of efforts and the success of the project—a significant step toward supporting the transition to a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy.
The Planning Institute said this project falls within the mandate of the National Green Economy Committee, established by the Minister of Planning’s Decision No. 177 of 2026, which aims to support and develop green economy pathways and promote related initiatives and projects.
