Plan Set to Boost Readiness of Benghazi Power Grid During Summer

Benghazi – The Sahil Benghazi Distribution Department convened a meeting to review the condition of the city’s electrical grid and address technical bottlenecks. The session, led by department director Musa Al-Suleimani, brought together division managers and heads of operations as part of early preparations for the summer season and rising electricity demand.

Participants discussed the main technical challenges and operational needs facing field teams. They also explored ways to improve distribution network efficiency and readiness to handle outages and emergencies, aiming to ensure stable electricity supply in Benghazi and surrounding areas.

Al-Suleimani listened to reports from division managers about the status of networks under their supervision. They highlighted the need for essential equipment and operational materials to speed up maintenance and enhance field performance. These measures are intended to reduce power cuts and improve service quality for residents.

The meeting also addressed ways to strengthen coordination among technical units and unify efforts for continuous network monitoring. Attendees emphasized a rapid response to incidents and immediate repair of faults, especially during the peak summer period when electricity consumption increases.

Al-Suleimani stressed that the current phase requires intensified teamwork to face any potential technical challenges. He underscored the importance of daily network monitoring and taking swift action to resolve issues that could impact service stability.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed to prepare a comprehensive list of technical and operational needs and submit it to the General Directorate of Distribution and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy. The goal is to secure necessary resources as soon as possible to support field teams and strengthen the network in the coming period.
