The Director General of the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), Ayman Al-Darwish, met today with Sean Circop, Chargé d’affaires at the Maltese Embassy in Libya. MFZ said the two discussed prospects for economic and trade cooperation and investment opportunities, as well as the potential to boost trade and logistics flows between Libya and Malta.

During the meeting, the Maltese Chargé d’affaires was briefed on the MFZ’s potential and the operational and logistical capabilities of its seaport, in addition to the infrastructure and services available to support trade and investment activities.

MFZ’s Director of Marketing and Relations, Alaa El-Din Baba, told Libya Herald that the zone possesses significant potential to attract further investments and companies operating in trade, logistics, industry, and maritime transport-related services.

Baba added that the Free Zone’s seaport is one of its key assets, given its operational capabilities and strategic location. He noted that the zone offers a range of opportunities for companies and investors wishing to leverage its infrastructure and services.

He explained that the meeting with the Maltese side reviewed cooperation opportunities in several areas—including maintenance, training, and maritime and logistics services—as well as the potential for Maltese companies and shipping lines to utilize the zone’s available capabilities.

Baba emphasized that the Misrata Free Zone is working to expand its network of relationships with international companies and institutions and to showcase the investment opportunities it offers, thereby helping to boost trade activity and strengthen Misrata’s role as a hub for logistics and commercial services.
