Green Industry Centre Joins Libya Green Economy Roadmap Workshop

The Green Industry Centre, part of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, participated in a workshop titled “National Green Economy Roadmap for Libya,” held in Tunisia on September 13–14, 2026.

The workshop was organized through a collaboration between the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the University of Rostock (Germany), and the Planning Institute, with the participation of various national institutions and private sector entities.

The workshop addressed several key topics related to the green economy and the circular economy. These included presenting preliminary results from the national study on the circular economy in Libya and showcasing sample outputs from the Green Industrial Transformation database—managed by the Green Industry Centre. Discussions also covered legal, regulatory, financial, and technical challenges, alongside a review of regional experiences regarding green economy strategies.

Furthermore, the workshop sessions covered green industries, natural resources and mining, renewable energy, and sustainable transport, all aimed at supporting national efforts toward a green and sustainable economy.

The Centre’s participation underscores its role in supporting the green industrial transformation process, fostering cooperation and integration among relevant institutions, and raising awareness about the green industrial transformation initiative.
