Mafeteng, Aug. 03 — Mafeteng Correctional Service has joined their countrywide prayer week aimed at seeking spiritual guidance, reflecting on their responsibilities and strengthening commitment among correctional officers.

Speaking during the opening of the prayer week on Monday, Senior Superintendent Tuoata Makoetje, Commander of Mafeteng Correctional Service, said the prayer sessions are held countrywide and are conducted twice a year, before and after winter.

He said the prayer week provides an opportunity for officers to reflect on their responsibilities and reconnect with themselves and their purpose as correctional service officers.

Moreover, Chief Officer Mamsitoze Phatsima said each day of the prayer week has a specific theme, with Monday’s theme being ‘The Alpha and the Omega’. 

She said they were pleased that the prayer week coincided with a month dedicated to celebrating African women.

Mrs. Phatsima said their prayer points included praying for one another, as well as asking for more women within the Mafeteng Correctional Service to be promoted. She noted that two women had recently been promoted, which she described as an encouraging development.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Maline Sepitla, who has served in the Lesotho Correctional Service for 21 years, expressed gratitude after being promoted to the rank of Lance Sergeant.

She said she had previously lost hope of being promoted but was delighted by the opportunity.

Mrs. Sepitla vowed to perform her duties with renewed enthusiasm.

She encouraged her fellow officers to remain hopeful, saying that opportunities can come at any time when the right moment arrives.
