Presidential elections in the Kyrgyz Republic should be held on January 27, Parliament Speaker Marlen Mamataliev announced at a session of the Zhogorku Kenesh.

He stated that under current legislation, the presidential election should be held on the last Sunday of January 2027.

«Today we adopted a bill on elections, according to which the elections will be held on the last Wednesday of January 2027, that is, January 27. The purpose of the adopted bill is to improve the quorum and voter turnout. As you know, turnout in Bishkek is usually very low—no more than 15 percent,» Marlen Mamataliev said.

He added that, according to the procedure, the president should sign the relevant bill and thus approve the election date.
