The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has uncovered a corruption scheme during the reconstruction of the regional Olympic Reserve School in Manas. According to the SCNS, the state suffered damages totaling 7,288,597 soms.

The state committee reported that the violations were discovered during repair and construction work and the construction of additional infrastructure at the facility.

Investigators believe that responsible employees of the sports school colluded with contractors and embezzled part of the funds allocated from the presidential fund for infrastructure improvements.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 3 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (Abuse of office).

As part of the investigation, technical supervision specialist K.K.M. was detained. He was placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS pretrial detention center.

The state committee stated that they continue to establish all the circumstances of the case and other persons involved.
