Volunteers from Russia and Kazakhstan are joining the search for a 6-year-old boy who was swept away by a river current after a vehicle fell into the water in Kegeti Gorge.
Russian blogger Ruslan Vildyanov announced on social media that he will soon travel to Kyrgyzstan with a group of like-minded volunteers to take part in the search operation.
A similar tragedy recently occurred in Ingushetia, Russia, where large-scale searches were conducted for an 8-year-old child swept away by a strong river current. A Kyrgyz citizen traveling by bicycle to Mecca through Russia reportedly participated in those rescue efforts.
Kazakh media also report that citizens of Kazakhstan are helping in the search, although this has not yet been confirmed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan.
The incident occurred on June 23, when a vehicle carrying two families fell into a river in Kegeti Gorge. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there were two women and five children in the car. The women and three children managed to get out, but a 12-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy were swept away by the current. The girl’s body has since been found, while search efforts for the boy are ongoing.
