The number of crimes committed by migrants in Russia in the first half of the year decreased by 40 percent, data from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs say.

The number of crimes committed by stateless persons and foreign citizens in Russia decreased by almost 40 percent in the first six months of 2026 compared to the same period last year.

From January to June 2026, migrants committed 14,449 crimes. Of these, 11,861 crimes were committed by citizens of CIS countries.

According to statistics, the number of crimes committed by migrants from Commonwealth countries decreased by 41.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

It is also noted that 3,880 crimes were committed against foreigners and stateless persons from January to June 2026. Compared to the same period last year, the number of such crimes decreased by 18.2 percent.
