More than 1,200 people registered with hepatitis B and C in Osh, Osh region –

A total of 1,204 people in Osh and Osh region are registered with viral hepatitis B and C, data from the Osh Regional Center for the Control of Blood-Borne Infections, Viral Hepatitis, and Human Immunodeficiency Virus say.

During the first half of 2026, at least 785 people in Osh region and the city of Osh were registered with hepatitis B. Of them, 609 people live in Osh region, while 176 are residents of Osh city.

A total of 419 people are registered with hepatitis C, including 317 people in Osh region and 102 in Osh city.

The center noted that many cases in Kyrgyzstan are detected at later stages. According to official data, around 94 percent of registered cases are chronic forms of the disease or cases with complications, including liver cirrhosis and cancer.

Medical specialists remind residents that timely screening, vaccination against hepatitis B, and early detection of infection help reduce the risk of severe health consequences.
