Mongolian Film Week to be held in Bishkek –

On June 9-12, a special non-competition program, Mongolian Film Week, will be held as part of the IV Bishkek International Film Festival. Screenings will be held in the main hall of the Ala-Too cinema, the Ministry of Culture reported.

Mongolian Film Week will offer audience a unique opportunity to experience the best examples of contemporary cinema in the country. The program includes works by talented directors reflecting the culture, traditions, and pressing social issues of Mongolian society.

The program features the following films:

  • Horizon by Batdelger Byambasuren;
  • Silent City Driver by Sengedorj Janchivdorj. The film won awards for Best Director and Best Actor, and was also one of the winners of the previous Bishkek Film Festival.
  • City of Wind (directed by Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir) is a drama about a young shaman whose life and spiritual connection with his ancestors are seriously tested after meeting a girl. The film was screened in the Horizons program at the 80th Venice Film Festival and was submitted by Mongolia as its official entry for the Academy Awards.

The event is open to all movie lovers.
