Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev and First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev signed an updated intergovernmental agreement on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The current document on the principles of trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation was signed back in 1996. It remains legally valid, but does not take into account the current realities and potential of bilateral relations, the press service of the head of Yakutia explained.

The updated agreement provides for the expansion of humanitarian, trade, and economic ties, the development of investment activities and tourism, the exchange of best practices, and participation in exhibitions, fairs, and congress events.

«Today, we are consistently expanding our cooperation. Trade turnover is growing, ties between entrepreneurs are strengthening, and new opportunities for cooperation are emerging. Yakutia is interested in expanding supplies of agricultural, fruit and vegetable products from Kyrgyzstan, developing investment and business contacts, and implementing mutually beneficial initiatives. We paid special attention to cultural and sports cooperation. I am confident that the agreement signed today will provide a sound foundation for further strengthening our friendship and partnership,» Aisen Nikolaev said.
