Kazakhstan has accredited 777 international observers to monitor the elections of deputies to the Kurultai, including representatives from Kyrgyzstan.

According to the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, CEC members led by Chairman Nurlan Abdirov met with observer missions.

Among them, Abdirov met with Tynchtyk Shainazarov, Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referendums.

The international observers expressed interest in innovative approaches to organizing the electoral process, including the use of the Sailau AI assistant on the official website of Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission and digital channels informing citizens about how to find their polling stations.

In this regard, Nurlan Abdirov invited members of the observer missions to visit the International Artificial Intelligence Center alem.ai, where they were shown the development of AI, digital technologies and Kazakhstan’s innovation ecosystem.

Kazakhstan’s new Constitution came into force on July 1. At the same time, the Mazhilis and Senate ceased to operate, and the mandates of their deputies ended. Under the new Constitution, the country will have a unicameral legislature, the Kurultai, instead of the bicameral Parliament.

Elections to the new legislative body will be held tomorrow, August 23.
