Major renovation and landscaping works have been completed at the hippodrome in Cholpon-Ata.
According to the Ministry of Construction of Kyrgyzstan, the work began in 2026. As part of the project, the VIP area, guest rooms, grandstands, administrative offices, basement area and parking lot were renovated. Engineering networks were also repaired and the surrounding grounds were landscaped.
The grandstands received new porcelain tile flooring and seats, while granite slabs were installed at the main entrance. The roof and paving were also renovated, fences and walls were repainted, and water pipes and sanitary facilities were replaced.
The fountains were repaired, sewer pipes were cleaned, and the stained-glass windows were refurbished.
The work was financed from the republican budget. The ministry did not disclose the cost of the renovation.
Preparations for the VI World Nomad Games, which will be held in Issyk-Kul region from September 1 to 6, are currently continuing at the hippodrome. A stage is being installed, along with other construction and organizational work.
The Cholpon-Ata hippodrome was built in the 1930s. It was renovated ahead of the first World Nomad Games in 2014 and fully refurbished in 2018. The complex can accommodate up to 10,000 spectators.
