Syrian authorities have intercepted a vehicle carrying 226 RGC-type hand grenades concealed inside specially constructed hidden compartments as it was attempting to cross into Lebanon.
The General Authority for Ports and Customs said the explosives were discovered during an inspection of a vehicle heading toward Lebanese territory. Officials described the grenades as being tightly concealed within secret compartments designed to evade routine border inspections.
Authorities did not immediately disclose the exact border crossing where the seizure took place or whether any arrests had been made in connection with the attempted smuggling.
