Opposition leader, Mark Golding, says a zone of special operations, ZOSO, may have to be considered in the Kidd Lane area of Kingston 13.

This follows a shooting and arson attack in the community last Friday.

He was speaking during a tour of the area on Monday with Member of Parliament for South West St Andrew, Dr Angela Brown Burke.

Golding’s call for the imposition of a ZOSO in Kidd Lane echoes those shared by fearful residents, who say the ongoing violence is also impacting their livelihood.

Friday’s attack by gunmen left two women and a toddler dead. The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Lashane Ellis, her one-year-old son, Kaheel Daley, and 39-year-old Kimeisha Gibson.

Three men are in custody in relation to the incident. They are Dante Davis, the main suspect; Andre McBean, otherwise called Pinchers; and Lance Brown, otherwise called Stoneface.

Golding notes that the killings highlight the need for more to be done despite the progress made in reducing crime.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for South West St Andrew, Dr Angela Brown Burke, says the area had shown reduced violence prior to the incident.

She says proper lighting and increased police presence are among the measures required.
