Morris Dixon: Melissa donations not being used to fund NaRRA

Information minister, Senator Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, is rejecting claims that monies donated to the SupportJamaica platform following Hurricane Melissa are now being used to fund the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority, NaRRA.

She was speaking on the Truth Matters YouTube channel on Sunday.

The government has come under fire after its announcement last week that NaRRA had secured a five-year lease at Digicel’s waterfront building, with the annual rent of about $115 million.

The lease agreement, coupled with the $40 million salary package for the chief executive officer, has sparked widespread concerns about how public funds are being spent.

The government has since sought to clarify reports about the pay package and has indicated it will revise the lease agreement and scale down operations.

Minister Morris Dixon points out that funding for NaRRA was outlined in the government’s 2026/2027 budget presented in March.
