The National Water Commission, NWC, says regulated water supply arrangements remain in effect despite rainfall across sections of Kingston and St. Andrew over the last few days.
In a statement overnight, the company says while the downpour provided a temporary slowing in the rate of decline at storage facilities impacted by the extended period of dry conditions, it has not so far supported a general return to normality.
It says that while, the rains have been encouraging, storage levels remain significantly below those recorded during the corresponding periods in 2024 and 2025.
According to NWC data, as of Sunday, Mona Reservoir was at 36.3 per cent of capacity.
At this time in 2025, the reservoir was at 76.1 per cent; while in 2024, the storage level was at 100 per cent of capacity.
Also as of Sunday, Hermitage Dam was at 44.9 per cent. On October 11, for both 2025 and 2024, it was full; registering 100 per cent of capacity.
The NWC says it recognises the optimism generated by the recent showers and appreciates the public’s desire for an easing of the existing supply restrictions.
It restates however, that regulated water supply schedules will remain in effect in the affected service areas until further notice.
The commission advises residents to continue to conserve and maintain adequate household storage in the interim.
