The Jamaica Police Federation says it’s deeply shocked and saddened by the shooting incident in Sligoville on Friday morning.
In a statement, Federation Chairman, Detective Sergeant Doris Stewart, says the incident is a painful reminder of the dangers the men and women of the JCF face daily in the line of duty.
She has extended condolences to the corporal’s family, friends and colleagues and says the Federation is praying for the full recovery of the injured constable.
Detective Sergeant Stewart is urging members of the JCF to remain resolute, support one another and continue to serve with courage.
She says the progress made in the fight against crime, particularly murders, must be sustained.
The Federation is also appealing to the public to exercise sensitivity and refrain from circulating unconfirmed reports about the incident.
