Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness promises support for displaced residents in Coopers Pen, Trelawny, but refuses to condone the illegal occupation of land.

He was reacting to the ongoing controversy surrounding the demolition of illegal homes in the parish earlier this week.

The Prime Minister was speaking at a house opening in South West St. Ann on Friday.

Dr. Holness also points to what he describes as the government’s frugal and responsible use of the country’s resources.

He says that carefulness allowed for the prompt assistance from the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

He further notes the government’s caution in responding to the issue, due to its possible future implications.
