The Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF, is warning the public to desist from making threats or engaging in actions that target any individual or property in connection with the Third Country Nationals, TCN, agreement.

Under the agreement, people seeking asylum in the U.S. are sent to a third country while they await a determination about their final destination.

There’s been widespread criticisms since the disclosure that Jamaica was one of several countries to sign an MoU with the U.S. to house TCNs.

In a statement on Monday, the JCF urged the public to remain calm and rely on verified information regarding reports about TCNs.

The Force says there is currently no arrangement in place to house Third Country Nationals in St. Mary.

According to the JCF, the proposed plan has not been operationalized.

It adds that no facility has been identified or finalized for such a purpose.

The JCF warns that threats, intimidation and damage to property are criminal offences and will be dealt with accordingly.

Citizens are being encouraged to seek information from official sources and to address concerns in a lawful and peaceful manner.
