Jamaica bagged two gold medals in the space of ten minutes in athletics on day five at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on Monday.

Olympic finalist Romaine Beckford won Jamaica’s first ever Commonwealth Gold in High Jump competition, he scaled 2.25 metres to win, with his compatriot Raymond Richards fourth with 2.20 metres.

Demario Prince secured gold in the 110m hurdles, taking the event in 13.17 seconds, the other Jamaican in the event Jerome Campbell finished sixth in 13.86 seconds.

Both Jamaicans in the women’s 800m are through to the semi-finals, Adele Tracey advanced from the first round on time after placing fourth in heat one in 2:2.58 seconds, while Kelly Ann Beckford grabbed one of the automatic spots from her heat after clocking 2:1.63 for third.

In the morning session former national champion Rohan Watson won through to Tuesday’s semi-finals of the men’s 100m after taking heat 4 in 10.13 seconds.

Former World Champion Tajay Gayle leapt 8.10 metres from Group B to qualify automatically for the men’s Long Jump final.

Jordan Turner finished third in Group A of the men’s long Jump with 7.82 metres to advance to the final.

Nayoka Clunis recorded 64.83 metres to advance to the women’s Hammer Throw final.

On the netball courts, Jamaica bounced back from defeat to New Zealand on Sunday to beat Uganda 55/49 and will be in action again on Wednesday against Scotland.

In the pool, Olympian Sabrina Lyn finished third in semi-final-2 of the women’s 50-meters breaststroke in 31.13 seconds to advance to the final.

While in men’s 3×3 Basketball action Malaysia defeated Jamaica 21/15.
