Holness says short-term expectations hindering GOJ’s long-term planning

Prime Minister, Dr Andrew Holness, says the country’s long-term planning is being hampered by citizens increasingly interested in short-term delivery.

He was speaking at a New Social Housing Programme handing-over ceremony in North West St Catherine on Friday.

Colliecia Wright reports.

According to Prime Minister Holness, an existing mindset in Jamaican politics is where citizens generally do not expect the government to deliver results.

This he says often results in short-term, transactional interactions with the government, as people do not believe in long-term delivery.

He adds that it’s important for the government to keep the public informed about what is being done and benefits these initiatives will provide the Jamaicans.

Dr. Holness says there needs to be a change in mindset to get citizens to invest faith in the government for long-term goals.
