Four teens die in Saturday morning crash; Police seek drivers who removed plates & fled scene

The police are at this hour seeking the drivers of two Mercedez Benz motor cars following a deadly three-vehicle crash in Ocho Rios, St Ann early Saturday morning.

The four deceased are all teenagers.

They’ve been identified as 17-year-old Shantana Leonard of Cardiff Hall, Runaway Bay, 16-year-old Kenneil Lyle, 16-year-old Marcodine Maxwell and 15-year-old Rajani Abdul.

Reports are, about 2:30 am, two black C43 Mercedes Benz motor cars were travelling in a westerly direction on DaCosta Drive in Ocho Rios.

It is reported that one of the cars attempted to overtake the other and ventured into the path of an oncoming Toyota Vitz, driven by Leonard.

The police say the overtaking Benz collided with the left side of the Vitz, forcing it into the right lane, where it crashed into the other Benz.

The drivers of both Benzes reportedly removed the licence plates from their vehicles and fled the scene.

The police were alerted and all the occupants of the Vitz were rushed to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The police is appealing to anyone that can assist with identifying the drivers of the two Mercedez-Benz or any information to contact the St Ann’s Bay Police at 876-872-7523, 119 or the nearest police station.
