Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says his administration is considering developing a programme which prioritises the regularisation of informal settlements established by people on captured land.

The prime minister was speaking recently during the handing-over ceremony of a unit under the New Social Housing Programme, NSHP.

His comments follow the recent controversy over the demolition of homes belonging to residents of a squatter community established on privately owned lands in Coopers Pen, Trelawny.

The prime minister says the government has a duty to ensure all Jamaicans have reasonable access to shelter.
