Government Senator, Marlon Morgan has welcomed Jamaica’s top spot as the most peaceful nation in the Caribbean.
The finding was revealed in the 2026 Global Peace Index.
According to Morgan, Jamaicans should be encouraged by this achievement.
The Index is published by the Institute for Economics and Peace which has significant global influence on matters of security, defence, terrorism and development.
Jamaica was also ranked the third most peaceful country in North and Central America.
The island trailed behind Canada and Costa Rica, as both the region and the world recorded declines in peacefulness.
However, Senator Morgan noted that there is still room for more work to be done.
