Ferguson fired as football director at Mount Pleasant

There’s been a major coaching shake-up at Caribbean club football champions Mount Pleasant Football Academy.

Director of football Davion Ferguson was dismissed late Thursday night, merely minutes after the club beat Sando of Trinidad and Tobago at Sabina Park to reach the final.

Ferguson who was also assistant to head coach, Theodore Whitmore, was on the bench during the game, no reason has been given for his dismissal.

Meanwhile, Whitmore says qualifying for the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup was one of the club’s key objectives this season.

Mount Pleasant secured their place in the regional tournament 3-1 on aggregate after a 2-nil victory in the second leg semi-final.

Whitmore stressed that there is still work to be done before the final rolls around.

The coach also noted that attention will now shift back to the Jamaica Premier League, as Mount Pleasant look to maintain their domestic form while balancing their regional ambitions.
