English Premier League outfit Aston Villa has given the clearest indication yet that Jamaican international Leon Bailey will be on his way out of the club shortly.
The 28 year old Bailey was left out of Villa’s travelling squad for their pre-season trip to Asia, with a move to newly promoted Hull City close to being completed.
Bailey has one year left on his Villa contract, effectively forcing the club’s hand at this time, rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.
Reports indicate that talks between the clubs have gone well, but Bailey’s estimated One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Pounds a week wages are likely to prove an obstacle to concluding the deal.
Despite Hull’s President Acun Illicali saying the transfer should be finalised within days, Hull are unlikely to come near matching his current wages.
Any deal is expected to need Villa contributing towards a pay-off to bridge the gap.
