Two men were fatally shot in an alleged confrontation with the police in St Catherine on Tuesday morning.

Dead are 26-year-old entertainer Jevaughn Newell from Gregory Park in Portmore and an unidentified male.

A report from the St Catherine South police is that the confrontation unfolded in Watson Grove in the Caymanas area of Gregory Park around 5:37 am.

The police say Newell and the unidentified male were shot and injured during the incident. They were taken to Spanish Town Hospital where both were pronounced dead.

According to the police, a Smith and Wesson pistol along with a magazine containing six rounds were seized.

The Independent Commission of Investigations is investigating.
