Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and the president of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed on Wednesday the country’s political, economic, and security situation.
During their meeting in Baghdad, the two leaders indicated that it is important to boost cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to enhance stability, address challenges, and serve the interests of the Iraqi people, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Al-Zaidi affirmed the government’s commitment to resolving outstanding issues in line with the constitution, preserving Iraq’s unity, and strengthening national partnership.
Barzani stated that it is important to continue dialogue between national parties. He added that the KRG supports the federal government’s efforts to enhance stability and promote national development.
The discussions focused on approaches to secure the success of the government’s national agenda.
This high-level meeting comes after al-Zaidi’s trips to Turkey and Iran, where he met top officials, and Barzani’s visit to Damascus, where he met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
