Iraq wins legal case in Jordan for Samarra Pharmaceutical Company

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq’s Ministry of Justice has announced a legal victory before the Jordanian judiciary after securing a final court ruling in favor of the State Company for Drug Industries and Medical Appliances in Samarra, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals.

The ruling requires a Jordanian company to pay financial compensation following a dispute over the supply of medical materials that failed to meet agreed specifications.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, the ministry’s Legal Department successfully represented the Iraqi pharmaceutical company throughout all stages of the legal proceedings before Jordanian courts.

The case involved a supply contract under which the Jordanian company was expected to provide metal covers for medical supplies. However, the supplier allegedly delivered products that did not comply with the contractual specifications.

Director of the Legal Department, Haitham Mohi Radi, said the final judgment issued by the Jordanian Court of Cassation, and upheld by both the Court of Appeal and the Court of First Instance, ordered the Jordanian company to pay financial amounts to the Samarra-based pharmaceutical company.

The ruling concludes a lengthy legal process aimed at protecting the contractual rights of the Iraqi state-owned enterprise.

The Ministry of Justice described the outcome as an important achievement in safeguarding Iraq’s financial interests abroad.

Officials said the successful litigation reflects the ministry’s continued efforts to defend state institutions before international courts and judicial authorities while protecting public funds from contractual violations.

The ministry added that the case demonstrates the expertise and professionalism of Iraq’s legal teams in handling international commercial disputes.

By successfully pursuing the claim through multiple judicial levels in Jordan, the Legal Department reinforced Iraq’s commitment to enforcing contractual rights and ensuring accountability in cross-border commercial agreements.

The decision is expected to strengthen confidence in the government’s ability to defend the interests of Iraqi public institutions through legal channels.
