Super League: Garudayaksa FC targets top-five finish – ObserverID

Jakarta, IO – 2025/26 Championship League champions Garudayaksa FC are heading into the 2026/27 Super League season with high ambitions and plenty of determination.

“We want to fly high in our debut season in the Super League,” Garudayaksa FC COO Derry Hidayat said at a press conference marking the club’s partnership with Zentara at The Bimasena in South Jakarta on Friday, September 4.

So, how high are they aiming? “Our target is to finish in the top five,” said Garudayaksa FC CEO M. Reza Anugerah.

Reza acknowledged that the challenge would be tough for the newcomers. “The atmosphere in the Super League will be very different from the Championship League. Every opponent will be a tough one,” he said.

Garudayaksa FC senior player Andik Vermansyah shared the same view. “The atmosphere in the stadiums will be very different. The Super League draws bigger crowds,” said Andik, who is grateful to be back in Indonesia’s top-flight league.

“I’m happy to be back. Basically, I refuse to grow old, and I want to prove that Andik still has much to offer,” he said.

“Finishing in the top five certainly won’t be easy, but we’ll give it everything we have. If the management is targeting the top five, it means we’re not here just to take part in the Super League. We want to compete and give our best,” he added.

Andik also expressed confidence in head coach Milos Joksic. “Coach Milos has a lot of different strategies,” he said.

Joksic, a Serbian coach, has promised to use high-level tactics to compete with the other Super League teams. “I will use tactics at a very high level,” he said.

Joksic, who officially took charge of Garudayaksa FC on July 21, 2026, said the defensive approach that helped the team win the Championship League is now a thing of the past.

“The Super League is a new challenge, and everything is different, including our approach to the game,” he said.

“The focus of football is scoring goals, but of course, we cannot neglect our defense,” he added. Garudayaksa will look to adopt a more attacking style, using three to five attacking players, similar to the approach used by European clubs.

Garudayaksa will open their Super League campaign away against Java United at Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang on Sunday (September 6). They will then host Persik Kediri at Pakansari Stadium in Bogor Regency on Friday (September 11).

So, just how high will Garudayaksa fly in the 2026/27 Super League season? (rp)
