In Uttarakhand, the weather has taken a turn once again, bringing respite from the scorching heat. On Thursday afternoon, sudden rainfall and hailstorms led to a drop in temperatures across several locations. Consequently, the weather turned pleasant. In Mussoorie—the “Queen of the Hills”—the weather took a sudden turn on Thursday. Heavy rain and intense hailstorms in the afternoon caused temperatures to plummet, providing much-needed relief to residents from the heat that had persisted over the past several days. As the chill intensified, people once again had to reach for their warm clothing.
The heavy hailstorm in Mussoorie and its surrounding areas blanketed roads and rooftops in a sheet of white. Meanwhile, the combination of rain and cold winds brought down the the temperature.
The Meteorological Department had previously issued a warning, forecasting the likelihood of heavy rainfall and hailstorms in the hilly regions over the next three days.
In light of this, the administration had already issued an alert and instructed relevant departments to remain vigilant. The administration has appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions and to exercise caution while in the hilly regions.
