US Vice President Vance arrives in Pakistan for crucial peace talks with Iran

US Vice President J.D. Vance arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for crucial peace talks with an Iranian delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament.

The objective of these talks is to end the conflict in the Middle East. Upon Vance’s arrival at the Nur Khan Airbase, he was received by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and Army Chief Asim Munir.

Accompanying Vance are the US President’s Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Before departing for Pakistan, Vance stated that he was optimistic about the talks and hoped they would be “positive.”

Prior to boarding his aircraft, Vance remarked, “As [US] President Donald Trump has stated, if the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we are certainly ready to extend a hand of cooperation; however, if they attempt to ‘play games’ with us, they will discover that the negotiating team is not quite so accommodating.”

The Iranian delegation arrived in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, early Saturday morning for talks with the United States. The eyes of the world are fixed on these negotiations, with hopes for a ceasefire between the two sides.

On Wednesday, while announcing a two-week ceasefire, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the United States and Iran would hold talks in Islamabad. He also “tagged” the Presidents of the United States and Iran in the statement he posted on ‘X’.
