Tripura cabinet approves recruitment to 1,267 posts, clears Sri Sri University proposal

Agartala: The Tripura state Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Manik Saha, on Thursday approved proposals for recruitment to 1,267 posts across various departments and the creation of 200 assistant professor posts, Transport Minister and Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury said.

Briefing media persons at the Civil Secretariat after the meeting, Chowdhury said the Cabinet approved a proposal to fill 27 Group C technical posts under the Printing and Stationery Department. Recruitment will be conducted by the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT).

The Cabinet also approved a proposal for the creation and filling of 219 Group C Lower Division Clerk posts under the Health and Family Welfare Department. Recruitment tests for these posts will also be conducted by the JRBT.

Under the Home Department, 916 vacant posts for male and female constables will be filled through direct recruitment, Chowdhury said.

The Cabinet further approved the creation of 105 posts in various categories for four new railway police stations. These include three sub-inspector posts, 11 women sub-inspector posts, nine assistant sub-inspector posts, 21 women head constable posts, 56 women constable posts and five constable driver posts.

The four new railway police stations will be established at Bishramganja, Udaipur, Belonia and Sabroom, Chowdhury said. Personnel for the stations will be recruited against the newly created posts.

Under the Tribal Welfare Department, 15 lower division clerk posts will be filled on a fixed-pay basis, with the JRBT conducting the examinations.

For the Higher Education Department, the Cabinet approved a proposal for the creation of 200 assistant professor posts, the minister said.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal for the Sri Sri University Bill. According to Chowdhury, the Ravishankar Trust, which manages several educational and spiritual institutions across the country, has proposed setting up a university at Bishalgarh in Tripura.

The proposed university will offer courses ranging from diploma-level studies to higher levels of education, he said. The university will be named Sri Sri University.
