Stock market buoyant for the third consecutive day! Sensex and Nifty close in the green

The Indian stock market witnessed a stellar rally on Friday, July 03, marking the third consecutive day of gains. Driven by strong global cues, reduced selling by foreign investors, and robust buying in IT and healthcare stocks, the market closed in the green. By the end of the trading session, the Sensex had climbed 261.79 points to close at 77,763.91, while the Nifty rose by 95.15 points to reach the 24,270.85 mark. This rally also led to a significant increase in investor wealth.

IT and Healthcare Stocks Lead the Rally

The IT and healthcare sectors saw the most significant gains during the day’s trading. HCL Technologies, Max Healthcare, Bajaj Finserv, Apollo Hospitals, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories emerged as the top gainers on the Nifty. The IT index rose by approximately 1.7%, largely driven by expectations of interest rate relief in the US. Lower interest rates are likely to benefit Indian IT companies, as a substantial portion of their revenue comes from the US market.

Buying Seen in Other Sectors Too

The realty sector shone the brightest, with its index surging nearly 2%. Additionally, the pharma and healthcare indices recorded gains of around 2%. Metal stocks also witnessed healthy buying activity. However, the banking and energy sectors remained under pressure; the Nifty PSU Bank index fell by 1.5%, and the energy index closed about 1.3% lower.

What Drove the Market Rally?

The market was supported by several positive signals. Expectations of falling interest rates in the US raised hopes of increased foreign investment in emerging markets. Furthermore, crude oil prices have returned to pre-war levels, providing relief to oil-importing economies like India. A slowdown in selling by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) also helped bolster market confidence. Stocks seeing the most activity

Among Nifty 500 stocks, shares of Aegis Vopak Terminals rose nearly 9%, while Sumitomo Chemical India also saw a gain of over 8%. On the other hand, declines were recorded in the shares of Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, PB Fintech, Hitachi Energy India, GE Vernova T&D India, and CG Power.
