SIR process to begin in Uttarakhand on May 29

The Election Commission of India has announced a Special Intensive Review (SIR) campaign for the third phase, covering 16 states and 3 Union Territories across the country. In this context, the SIR process in the state of Uttarakhand will be conducted based on a qualifying date of July 1, 2026. Following the Election Commission of India’s announcement of the SIR, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand has released a schedule of activities. According to the released schedule, the SIR process in the state of Uttarakhand will commence on May 29. Furthermore, between June 8 and July 7, 2026, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to distribute and collect enumeration forms.

It was further clarified that from June 8 to July 7, 2026, BLOs will undertake the task of distributing and collecting enumeration forms through door-to-door visits. During this period, voters will not be required to submit any documents. On July 14, 2026, when the draft electoral roll is published, a copy of the list will also be affixed at the booth level. Should any voter encounter any issues, they may report the relevant details to their respective BLO. Additionally, it was noted that the Aadhaar card has been included among the 11 documents officially notified for voters. Consequently, voters will now be able to present their Aadhaar card as a valid proof of identity document.

Schedule Finalized for SIR in Uttarakhand

  • From May 29 to June 7, 2026, activities related to the printing of enumeration forms and the training of personnel will be conducted in Uttarakhand.
  • From June 8 to July 7, 2026, BLOs will carry out the door-to-door distribution and collection of enumeration forms.
  • The draft electoral roll will be published on July 14, 2026.
  • A window for filing claims and objections has been provided between July 14 and August 13, 2026. From July 10 to September 11, 2026, all notices will be issued, and claims and objections will be disposed of.
    The final voter list will be published on September 15, 2026.
