The weather in Tehri took a turn in the afternoon, resulting in heavy rainfall. In the Jaunpur block—specifically in Naughar village within the Dhanolti Tehsil area—the sudden, heavy downpour caused floodwaters to surge into the shop of Kulveer Singh Nakchwal in the Bilaundi Pul market, causing him significant financial loss.
Meanwhile, the Nagun-Bhavan-Dehradun State Highway remained blocked for a considerable period due to the accumulation of debris on the road. As a result of the road at Bilaundi Pul becoming choked with debris, Cabinet Minister Bharat Singh Chaudhary and Dhanolti MLA Pritam Singh Panwar—who were traveling through the area—remained stranded there for several hours.
The sudden, heavy rainfall that occurred in the Jaunpur region during the afternoon also caused a rise in the water level of the Aglad River. Upon receiving reports that floodwaters had entered shops in the Bilaundi Pul market, Revenue Sub-Inspector Abbuj Chaudhary arrived at the scene and stated that extremely heavy rain lashed the area on May 15th, between approximately 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
He further reported that the Nagun-Bhavan-Dehradun highway was temporarily blocked due to the accumulation of water and debris. The road was subsequently cleared and restored to normal traffic flow using a JCB machine. The Revenue Sub-Inspector added that the floodwaters—along with debris—also inundated ten other shops located near Bilaundi.
It was reported that Cabinet Minister Bharat Singh Chaudhary and Dhanolti MLA Pritam Singh Panwar remained stranded for hours at Bilaundi Pul because the road had become impassable due to the accumulation of debris. Cabinet Minister Chaudhary was traveling toward Dehradun following a visit to Uttarkashi.
