PMC plans to add 70 electric vehicles in its fleet | Prayagraj News

Prayagraj: The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) is planning to induct 70 electric vehicles into its fleet over the next few months as part of an effort to reduce diesel consumption and bring down operational costs. The vehicles will be procured in four phases, with the first batch of 15 EVs expected to be purchased initially. The civic body currently operates around 1,200 vehicles of different sizes for garbage collection and other municipal services across the city’s 100 wards. The fleet consumes nearly 4,000 litres of diesel every day, resulting in an annual fuel expenditure of more than Rs 4 crore.According to officials, the proposed electric vehicles will be charged using electricity generated from biogas, further reducing the dependence on conventional fuel.
