A sensation has gripped the city following the discovery of a body in Naini Lake for the second consecutive day. On Saturday morning, information was received regarding the body of a local middle-aged man found in the lake. Police arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and initiated the identification process. The deceased was identified as Mahendra Chauhan.

According to eyewitnesses, locals spotted the body floating in the lake in the morning. The Mallital police station was immediately informed. Police retrieved the body from the lake and held it for identification. Upon receiving the news, family members arrived at the scene and identified the deceased as Mahendra Chauhan.

Cause of death unclear initially

The police have taken the body into custody, completed the inquest formalities, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The cause of death is not yet clear. The police are investigating the matter from all angles; the actual cause of death will only be determined after the post-mortem report is received.

A body was also found in Naini Lake on Friday

It is noteworthy that a body has been recovered from Naini Lake for the second day in a row. Just a day earlier, the body of another local resident, had also been found in the lake. These back-to-back incidents of bodies being found in the lake over two days have caused concern among city residents. The police are investigating both cases separately.
