NCRTC Plans Namo Bharat Extension to Rishikesh

The path has been cleared for the expansion of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat train. Efforts to extend the semi-high-speed rail corridor from Meerut to Rishikesh have gained momentum. An agreement regarding this has been reached between the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). The rapid rail network will be expanded from Meerut (UP) to Rishikesh (Uttarakhand). The existing 82-km Namo Bharat corridor—running from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut—will be extended by another 150 kilometers. A rapid rail station will be constructed at Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh.

Namo Bharat Train to Reach Rishikesh from Delhi in 3 Hours

This extension will make the Delhi-Rishikesh route 230 kilometers long. Traveling at a speed of upto 160 kmph, the Namo Bharat train will cover the distance to Rishikesh in three hours. Currently, it takes about six hours to travel from Delhi to Rishikesh by road via Meerut. The project proposal was presented in the presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

List of Namo Bharat Stations

The Namo Bharat train currently operates between Sarai Kale Khan (Delhi) and Modipuram (Meerut). From Modipuram, the line will be extended through Western UP to reach Haridwar and Rishikesh. This list of stations is based on the preliminary alignment plan. Some changes may occur during the upcoming Detailed Project Report (DPR) survey, depending on technical factors, geographical conditions, and projected passenger volume.
