PRAYAGRAJ: Matches are made in heaven and this special wedding proved this yet again as 3-foot groom travelled all the way from Mumbai to Kaushambi to tie a knot with a girl, who is two and a half feet in height. The newly-weds, Jitendra Patel (20) and Heeramani, became the cynosore of all eyes as they exchanged vows at a ceremony held under the Mukhya Mantri Samuhik Vivah event at Bhavans Mehta PG College, Bharwari, on Thursday.Jitendra, a resident of Majhilgav Kunda in Pratapgarh, is a fruit vendor in Mumbai. Proving that love transcends height, he travelled to Lucknow via flight and then reached Kaushambi by road to tie the knot with Heeramani, a resident of Bharwari. Both Jitendra and Heeramani enrolled for marriage under the Mukhya Mantri Samuhik Vivah Yojna.A total of 321 couples had enrolled, and the wedding of 300 couples was solemnised on Thursday. However, the Jitendra and Heeramani stood as showstoppers at the event. Rajendra Patel, Jitendra’s elder brother, said, “Jitendra arrived in Lucknow from Mumbai on Wednesday via flight and travelled to Kaushambi as his marriage was to be solemnised under the Mukhya Mantri Samuhik Vivah scheme on Thursday itself.”Rajendra said, “A few months back, he came in contact with a basket-selling vendor at the village who discussed about a family seeking a groom for a dwarf woman of their family. It took no time for us to contact the woman’s family members and fix the wedding.”As the family members of the bride had no adequate funds to solemnise the marriage in a grand manner, they were advised to enrol under the Mukhya Mantri Samuhik Vivah Yojna.
