As per the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, another important step has been taken towards the development of modern infrastructure facilities in the remote districts of the state. Bageshwar district, which is known as the gateway to Kumaon division, is soon going to get the gift of a state-of-the-art state guest house. The State Property Department has decided to link this ambitious project not only with administrative needs but also with tourism and local cultural identity. In the high-level meeting held on Tuesday in the Secretariat, the detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed state guest house construction on 45 nali land located in village Telapalan, tehsil Bageshwar was discussed in detail. Special emphasis was given to develop this complex, built at a cost of approximately Rs 17.52 crore, in accordance with the traditional hill architecture of Uttarakhand.
The building will give a glimpse of local culture
Presiding over the meeting, Secretary Housing and State Property Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that the design of the building should be such that it reflects the cultural heritage and natural beauty of the mountain. He instructed the executing agency Public Works Department that the design of the building should be attractive, environment friendly and based on local architecture. Along with this, it was asked to make the plan more useful by making necessary changes in the proposed rooms on the second floor.
All facilities will be available in one premises
During the review of the project, it was also decided that instead of constructing separate buildings, all categories of guest rooms, conference halls and other facilities should be developed in an integrated building. This will balance the construction cost, make maintenance easier and provide better facilities to the visitors. The Secretary also gave instructions to immediately submit separate DPR of electrical works and to provide revised estimates immediately.
Both administration and tourism will benefit
Experts believe that the construction of the State Guest House will give new momentum to the administrative activities in Bageshwar. Also, better residential facilities will be available to the special guests, officials and tourists visiting the district. This will also boost local tourism, employment and regional development.
Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar’s statement
Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s thinking is that the light of development should reach the last reaches of the state. The proposed State Guest House at Bageshwar will become an excellent example of modern facilities, local architecture and quality construction. Our effort is that this complex should not be limited to just guest accommodation but should become a major center for administrative meetings, government programs and regional development activities. The plan is being finalized keeping in mind quality, economy and long-term utility, so that Bageshwar can get a modern facility of which the entire state can be proud.
