Thanks to an unbroken century partnership between Phil Salt and Harry Brook, England won the fourth match of the T20I series against India at the County Ground by nine wickets. With this, the hosts have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. The first match of the series was washed out due to rain. The fifth and final match of the series is scheduled to be played in Southampton on July 11.
England achieved the target of 159 runs in just 13.5 overs, meaning the team won with 37 balls to spare. This is India’s biggest T20I defeat after scoring more than 150 runs. Overall, India has only suffered defeat with more balls to spare twice before in T20Is.
This is the first time since 2018 that India has lost a series against England in any format. In Bristol, captain Shreyas Iyer equaled Virat Kohli by winning his sixth consecutive toss, but even his unbeaten 80 could not save the team from defeat. Meanwhile, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi failed for the third consecutive match, scoring just 15 runs.
