Uttarandhra Backward Classes Association president Muddada Madhu on Monday (August 10, 2026) asked all political parties to allocate seats in the local body elections to backward communities such as the Yadava, Nagavamsam, Reddika and Viswabrahmin communities in proportion to their population.

Speaking to the media here, he said the Yadava community was the second largest by population, but was yet to get its due political share in elections.

Mr. Madhu said elected representatives of those communities could raise their issues in the Zilla Parishad, municipalities and corporations if they were given the opportunity to contest. He said the issue had been brought to the notice of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who assured them of justice for the most backward communities in the allocation of seats. He asked all other parties to collect population data on each community and allocate more seats. Mr. Madhu said BC Dedicated Commission Chairman Rajiv Ranjan Mishra had taken note of the issues of Most Backward Classes (MBCs) during his visit to the north Andhra region.
