8 cases against Fatehpur man, no arrest yet despite multiple fraud allegations

Serious allegations have surfaced against a person, Sumit Singh, in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, where he is accused of allegedly cheating people of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of securing government and private jobs, facilitating land deals and helping them in legal cases. He is also accused of allegedly arranging fake disability certificates and pension benefits for members of his family.

The case pertains to the Thariwan police station area, where victims have accused Singh of taking money on various pretexts. According to the allegations, people were allegedly promised government or private jobs, while others were asked to pay money for help in getting a sister married, selling land or securing relief in SC/ST-related cases.

One of the major allegations concerns the alleged misuse of the government’s disability pension scheme. Singh is accused of arranging fake disability certificates for family members and obtaining pension benefits on their behalf.

Following a complaint, the allegedly fraudulent pension cards were cancelled after an inquiry. Officials said the family members had received around Rs 2.40 lakh in disability pension benefits.

The District Divyang Welfare Officer has also issued a notice seeking recovery of the amount allegedly received under the scheme. Departmental action has reportedly been initiated over the alleged use of fraudulent documents to avail government benefits.

EIGHT CASES REGISTERED

Police records reportedly show around eight cases registered against Singh at different police stations. These allegedly include cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, rape and cheating provisions.

Despite the cases, victims allege that Singh has not yet been arrested. They have also accused him of pressuring them to reach a settlement and threatening them with death if they refuse to compromise.

The victims have been approaching police and other officials seeking action against him. One complainant, frustrated over the alleged lack of action, has even threatened to die by suicide if authorities fail to act.

The allegations are being investigated, while authorities have already initiated proceedings concerning the disputed disability pension benefits.
