Prayagraj: The state government has selected Sangam City to develop cow-based industries and also to link cattle conservation with rural employment and economic development.Pointedly, the government has moved to install biogas plants in over 300 (gaushalas) cattle shelters across the state. Chief Veterinary Officer (Prayagraj), Dr. Shivnath Yadav, said that biogas plants will be installed in three of the district’s large cattle shelters (gaushalas). The project will cost over ₹95 lakh, and a proposal has been sent to the Gram Panchayat department. All these biogas plants are expected to be ready by December.Yadav said, “Gaushalas with a high population of cattle have been chosen in the district for the installation of biogas plants. The three large shelters selected are located at Devari (Manda), Umariya Badal (Holagarh), and Dighlo (Meja).”Currently, more than 1,600 cattle are housed in these gaushalas, ensuring an adequate supply of cow dung and urine. Biogas plants with a capacity of 45 cubic meters will be installed at each of these three locations.A biogas plant has already been installed at the Gaushala in Latifpur, Koraon. CVO said that the aim is to integrate cattle conservation with rural employment and economic development. Through these plants, clean energy, organic manure, and other products will be produced from cow dung and urine. In the future, the biogas generated from this process will also be linked to mini-bottling units, serving as a local alternative to domestic cooking gas. Products made from ‘Panchagavya’ will be integrated into industrial activities. District-specific industries—such as biogas, eco-friendly paint, organic manure, vermicompost, and ‘Panchagavya’ products—will be promoted. This initiative will generate local employment, encourage natural farming, and strengthen rural entrepreneurship.
